Default 2011 6.2 Stock Exhaust Cats Removed

Short on "mod money" this holiday season....has anyone removed cats on factory Y-Pipe and kept rest of system stock? The factory 3.5" system may be improved on but most here agree that it is up to the job and has no drone. I listened to a sound clip of a member with OBX longtubes w/cats and factory catback and sounded very good IMO. It is my understanding that OBX catted Y-Pipe has no material in the "cats" which are only there for visual check. I purchased a DiablSport inTune and a custom tune from Lew so I can have him turn off the o2 sensors to keep the CE indicator off.

Trying for better sound the low cost way and if I gain power without the cats that's just gravy. I'm sure I will get LT's in the future but for now I'm saving for TVS 1900.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Love my catless lts with factory 6.2 exhaust. Ive had tons of different exhaust over the years and I love this one the best.

Gut em Nemesis, it will be a noticeable improvement. The only thing that would be better is using a core or junkyard Y-pipe so you still have your oem parts if you ever need to sell it or trade it but I don't think it will be easy to find a 6.2 y-pipe. If I thought I had a core laying around I'd sell you one since you're local but I honestly don't think I've had a 6.2 y-pipe come through.

I was thinking exactly that.... ask a few shops that installed LT's if they are their customer may have a y-pipe to sell.

Been thinking on this but would first like to hear comments from someone that has done this and their results/opinions before I make a move. I may saw my cats off cleanly and fab a slip-fit straight pipe with clamps so later I can weld back the cats for trade or sale.

I would have them cut out and dummies welded in bc I get $100 for a pair of cats as scrap.
