Sorry if this is well covered, just saw an ad for a 2008 6.0 engine at a GREAT price. Is this a direct swap like a 2002 6.0 would be or is there more to these swaps like oil pans, crank component(reluctor??) stuff like that? It's going in a 2001 5.3, I'm concerned about physical parts differnce, I'm aware about tunes and such.

I think the '08 will have a 58 reluctor wheel, and your '01 a 24. Does the '08 have VVT?

 

No, not a direct swap. 58X reluctor, 4X timing gear on front of engine, relocated knock sensors, different injector harness, VVT, returnless fuel system, DBW throttle body.

Your intake won't swap over because of different intake ports on the LY6.

 

Ok thanks guys, obviously not for me. Not sure what model it was from but I'll assume it was 2500HD work truck base. At $700 asking I didn't want to pass it up!
