An LQ4 is a great motor for a swap, especially an ’05 such as what your contemplating, as other than the compression being 6/10th’s lower, has the same internal components. The newer LQ4’s have the same beefier floating pin rods, same heads, same camshaft and so on. And actually if further down the road you decided that you wanted to boost the engine by some means, the LQ4 would actually be the better choice of the two. That said and you fully intend to stay NA, should you come across an LQ9 with similar mileage, checks out to be in good shape, for a good price, then by all means pick it up.

the mileage is high for the price, unless you cannot find any better, i paid $800, 04' LQ4 73000 miles from a express van

the LQ9 isnt worth the extra money people ask for them
