Default 2005 INtake change?

Im looking at intakes for a buddys 2005 yukon 4.8 and K&N only shows a part number for a air charge, but no FIPK. Also, AEM shows the same models as previos years. Whats the deal with that?

They should be all the same from 99- now. Its always been like that, if you look at some intake set-ups it will have a different part # for the 5.3,4.8 and the 6.0 but there all the same.

In the trucks they are different for the 05 model cause the airbox is different on the suv's i thought they were the same.

I think the 05 use a different intake than the 99-04 models. The K&N part number for the 05 is 63-3050. Here is a link with a pic. http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=63-3050

It looks alot different than the one on my truck.http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...Prod=57-3021-1

That is the same number i came up with for the 05 K&N, but when i look up the AEM intake, its the same as the 99-04 trucks. 218000

It may be due to the 05 trucks having efans from the factory. Looks like the tube section is different from the one on my truck. Theres more room there without the fan shroud.

The 05's have 34 inch radiators and efans which totally screws with the mounting positions on the FIPK. I found this out the hard way. I ended up pulling the overflow tank out of the way to get more room to work, and broke out the cutoff wheel to trim the heat shield so it would fit. Then I had to drill a new hole in the heat shield for the bottom mount, and the top mount wouldn't work at all. Other than that it works great.
I guess you could call it almost bolt on.

It seems like on my 2005 one of the radiator hoses is in the way of the intake tube, hince why it is flat and goes above it. I may be wrong but in doing research on a custom intake I dont think I would be able to come out from the throttle body parallel with the engine due to one of the radiator hoses being in the way...........I may be wrong though.........

I used K&N part number 57-3023-1 for my '05 Tahoe 5.3L. K&N only lists the models up to '04 for it. It worked, but I had to trim a little off the mounting bracket for the e-fans. I just needed to do this to get the heatshield rubber spacer/mounting bolt in place.
I can't say I noticed a big increase in hp, but the MPG has gone up about 1.5 miles per gallon.
