#1
OK GUYS im going to buy another truck.
im looking at the 2005 duramax. 2wd 2500hd short bed bed with 3.73 gears. (gm put the diesel in the short bed 2500 must be a new thing www.chevy.com you can build it like that now also lightest combo on the truck) now i know they come with 605tq and 310 hp, now what should this run stock in the 1/4??
Seeing some programs alone giving 250 pounds or torque and 150 hp that alone im thinking will put it in the lets say 450 hp range and 850 lbs of torque. Then exhaust they say 20 hp and like 70 torque so we are at still 400 hp range but now over 900 lbs torque. then intake 10 hp and like 15 torque.
so total with intake, exhaust and tuner will be about 500hp/920tq. am i off by alot here guys?? with that much power shouldnt it be a 12 second truck easy??

HP figures might be off alittle bit. Usually the numbers venders give are alittle exagerated. I have the combo your talking about except mines a crewcab with 4x4. I haven't dynoed it yet but it's been to the track many times.....towing my GN.
I would think it's making on level 3 maybe 390-400 crank hp and 410-420 hp on level 5. Exhaust doesn't do much as far as increased hp but makes a big difference in lowered EGT temps. If your gonna run it hard get a tranny. Several of the tranny experts have found the failure point of the allison tranny to be around 680 ft lbs or tq when its locked up in 5th gear. Most of the aftermarket boxes can easily exceed that number and will smoke the stock tranny.
A good site to go to is www.dieselplace.com

and, there is no dobut edge does lie about the horsepower they make, everyone makes more then the programmer claimes. As far as the programmer, to get the full potential you'll need at least a conveter and shift kit, check out dieselplace.com for more info.

Norcal STI, sorry to be messenger of bad news but I think the dealer is yank'n your chain. Went to American Chevrolet yesterday and tried to build a 2 and 4 wheel drive short bed regular cab. Wouldn't let me do it. Only way was doing an extended cab.
Sorry
