Default 2004 chevy performance upgrades

Ok just got the truck. specs are 5.3 liter, 2wd, 3.73 locker, regular cab. So waht are the first mods that should be made. I would like to make it as fast as possible with out tearing into the engine and without supercharging. Money is tight and the truck only has 200 miles on it. Any help would be great, prices also help. thanx
