2002 5.3 Procharger
#1
Has anyone installed the ATI kit on a 2002 5.3 tahoe? I have just finished mine and I think I have a detonation problem when at med/full boost for extended periods. Any suggestions would be helpful.
I am running
93 octane
33 Mud terrains
8-9psi boost
non platnum colder plugs
msd wires
2 core intercooler
Thanks-
ben

what plugs are you running ?
Don't use the champions plugs they recommend they SUCK i just changed mine to ngk tr6 made a huge difference in the idle and power gapped at .40
what are you noticing that would make you think you have detonation ?
there is no programmer out there for procharger unit we have. i would wait till ls1 edit is out and change a few things with it.
I would consider running a fan package on your truck and low temp stat that'll help .
do you have any pics of the istall ?
i would also consider re-routing the intake and go to the stock factory location or move the batterie to the other side of the truck
i would also diconnect the line to the throttle body that goes into your crank case .i found out the hard way when it presurized it and shot the dipstick and oil everywhere .
Email me if you have any questions

the best thing you could do if you have detonation, and you dont have a programmer, find someone who can dyno tune it and use LS1 edit, there is a guy here in NJ, which is close to RI 3 hrs. you could try some octane boost, that what I have to do with my magnacharger after i did some mods. Buy a can of 108 octane boost from Schlep Boys, that might help you. Triy putting an E fan on the intercooler, that what itll always run cool, even @ Idle

13.3@103 has been my best on 275/45/r20's, i need to dyno it. It weighs about 5k lbs. I nuked the ECU, that should be here Friday, and the superchips burner some time this century. I need a caddy motor, Id like to drop that in my truck with an S/C

Hey I found out that my truck is a flex fuel vehicle.... how bad does that sound? One of the guys at LS1edit told me that because I have a Z in my VIN (8th letter) I also found this article
2002 GM flex fuel article
Sure enough my manual talks about the flex fuel stuff as well. Could this be the reasoning why I am having problems with my sc kit.
How much fuel pressure should I have at 6 pounds boost? I only have 40psi at idle (with 21hg vacuum) and only 55psi at 3pounds boost. The FMU does not really block the return line untill around 7-9 pounds at which point I have around 90-100psi fuel and the detonation starts.
Will a custom exhaust help? I am having a "true dual" with an X pipe installed next week.
Thanks for the info and help-
