Default 2001 5.3 with Magnacharger

Not sure where to post this.
I have a 2001 Suburban with a Magnacharger, I noticed that they disconect the MAT sensor at the MAF and install one at the Intake manifold after the Supercharger.

My question is what is the MAT input to the PCM actualy do. I understand that it basicly dose nothing but EGR operation on the old ECM contolled MAF cars.

I was wondering what effect it would have if I reconected it at the MAF sensor which would show a cooler intake charge, maybe it would give me more timing or fuel at WOT, or less EGR

They move it there to measure the IAT output of the charger. I would guess if you moved it back to the one in the MAF it would give you more timing but I am not sure how much and it might move you closer to detonation.

They relocate the sensor to better reflect the temperture of the air going into the engine that way if you lose intercooler effecency the computer knows to pull timing. If you relocate the sensor back to the stock you would probably get more timing but the programming that came with the system is setup for the location on the intake. You would probably damage the engine and I dought you would see any performance increase.Besides the pulley is easy to change if you need more power.
