Default 2000 Silverado 5.3--> where to start?

let the modding begin on the tow truck!

* K&N FIPK worth the $215 i can get it for from work (advance auto parts)??

* What Catback/Muffler sounds/performs the best?

* HPP worth a **** on these trucks?

* What exactly does the Tow/Haul Feature do?

just give me basic info on the trucks, and any advice suggestions you might have. Thanks!

also, what are the stock gears (and do they come w/ Limited Slip)?
and what is an average ET for stock...gonne take it this weekend to have fun! lol

well you will have to look in the glove box and see if it has a limited slip or a posi. if it says g80 it is a posi. do you have the tow package on it.
k&n good deal.
hpp3--paperweight
allexhaust are good as long as they are brand name. if i was going to buy one i would buy the corsa. i had mine custom done.as far as the tow haul i think it holds the gears longer or something like that.

thanks everyone....

truck does not have tow package, or at least isnt a Z71/4x4, i would assume it has a 3.42 geared 8.5" Lim. Slip????

is G80 going to a limited slip, or posi???

also, does anyone have sound clips of their exhaust, first thing i've gotta do is get this truck sounding better, and prolly add a UPD or Volant, depending upon what i can find for how much. Im noticing they are pretty much comparable as far as performance.

Some can come with 3.73:1 gears also...

G80 is a locking diff, uses a counter weight to lock the tires. It works mkay for mild performance. If you want something HD... look at an Eaton LSD w/ 800lbs preload springs on a Auburn Pro.

K&N FIPK will make it louder...

HPP3 sucks.

A straight through muffler is gonna be your best bet... Mangaflow, Dynomax, etc. Sound clips don't do much justice for tone and SQ of cat backs.

Where in the glovebox would I look to see what kind of rear diff my truck has?? There is a sticker in there with a whole mess of alpha-numeric codes, but I didn't see G80 anywhere in there.

Does anyone have any other ideas??
