No, I didn't feel any difference between the factory stat and the 160* stat.
I don't see it as a mod for adding hp or torque. Just isnt happening.
The only gain from this change is possibly running a few degrees more of timing like mentioned above.
I have heard of guys stating it does lower the tranny temps. This would of course increase life of tranny.
I though on the other hand have noticed a 1 mpg loss. I'm guessing from the coolant staying cooler for a longer period of time, which makes the engine warm up longer, thus burning a bit more extra fuel in the mornings.
That's my assumption. I'm not driving my truck any different.

the 04's have a diffrent housing than the previous models at least 2002 and below and yes as far as i know its the same as the ones for the cars. if you get a part number for the ones for the cars let me know couse i wanna change mine too.

 

Why Is It That Putting A 180 Stat In My Truck, The Temp. Guage Still Reads The Same? Sorry, Im Not Tryin To Steal The Thread, just wondering.

 

I had a 180* thermo before the 160*, and I didn't really see a big change either. With a scanner, I noticed that the temp was a few degrees cooler, but not much. For one thing, the factory guage isn't the most accurate instrument. Also, with a 180* stat, it'll open a little sooner than the factory stat (which I believe is 195*), but will still heat up to almost the same temperature if you're using the factory fan clutch.
