105amp vs 145amp for performance ?

Just wondering if you think it would make a differance in performance in swaping alternators? The only reason I ask is, I swaped my 105 to a 145 but dont really have any reason to be running the 145 other than I had it and it is new vs my 5 yr old 105. My scsb is turnning into more of a track truck than street truck. No A/C, heat, ect, but it does have 05 truck fans.

Hmm... someone correct me if I'm wrong but... I believe getting a higher AMP alternator causes more resistance on an engine and will LOWER your HP. A higher amp alternator would be good for people who may consume lots of power, like multiple off-road lights, big sound system, etc. But all in all, if you need performance, a smaller Amped alternator should be better, causing less resistance on the engine.

not really. The alternator has a regulator mounted on it. That regulator determines how much draw (amperage) is being demanded from the vehicles electrical systems (lights, radios, ect). If more of a demand is sensed, only then will the power to the magnetic feilds increase making it harder to turn the alternator and producing more electricity.

like nonnieselman says keep the 145. If you had more than 105 amperage draw your alternator would overheat and either burn up or if it has a heat sensor it will stop charging. Having the higher amperage rated alternator can only help you.

It won't make **** of a diff, keep the 145
