I doubt the 3 bar tune works with a 2 bar map. The MAP scaler would be all screwy.

if you think you will ever run over 14.7psi then get the 3 bar. actualy you could limp it a ways past 14.7. probably be ok up to 16 or 17psi on the 2 bar but if you think you will be over that go with the 3 bar right off the bat.

I don't think 3bar tuning has been released by by HPT yet.I think just a handfull of tuners have it to work the bugs out.3bar tuning would probably be a race only item, not many applications will exceed 14.7lbs of boost on the street.

that what i was thinking becouse wether i go bigger cubes or just build the 4.8 to hold it i may run more than just 2bar. didn't you sqeeze 20psi into your stock 4.8

There's going to be a point of diminishing returns on boost. I wouldn't sweat a 3bar tune too much unless you are going max effort and plan on a huge turbo or twins. I built my motor to handle 18psi, and like Jim said, I would run it to 16,17,18psi on the 2 bar MAP just be cheating the top lines of the tune (make them rich enough for max boost and deal with being a little too rich between 14.7 and max boost.

Then again, unless you want more than 800 fwhp, you don't really need to worry about it at all I think -- 2 bar will be plenty.

And by then, someone will have worked out all the kinks on a 3bar tune too.
