Don't mean to bash, just trying to figure out where $1300 is spent at. </font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Originally posted by FLP:

I agree. How much could a set of pre welded high flow cats cost, maybe $250-$300 at the most. On top of the cost of a set of AS&M's thats about $950-$1000. So the rest of the extra cost ($300)goes for the y pipe, clamps and gaskets!?
That doesnt seem right. They do look VERY nice and I am sure they make nice power but I think going with a set of basic headers without the cats would be the best way to go, or at least get the price down to no more than $900-$1000, which is still hard to swallow.
Like I said they look great and that y pipe is very nice. I just think to really sell them and be competitive one has to price them more affordably. I couldnt imagine the addition of the y pipe and cats making more than 5 hp of a difference over the basic AS&M or other high quality long tubes.
I also agree that we are truck owners, not Corvette Z06 owners. Considering that I think these headers may be a little over the top.

An offroad pipe would Definitely be necessary! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Off-Road Y-pipe would be an ABSOLUT requirement for me to buy them.
having read what other people say and comparing the price to ASM's (my original choice) looks like they may be a better choice.....
As far as stainless goes......I dont really take my truck to very many shows, I like to keep it clen, but I just assume the headders be black as anything else, so that doesnt mean crap to me, i'd have em coated anyway.
Get some #'s on a 4.8, and you may renew my intrest......

Man, that is just flipping nuts! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> You know it dosen't cost any more to build them then it does to build a set that would sell for three or four hundred. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" />
Damn, they sure look purdy though. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

i bought a set of high-flow cats from texas performance for like $80 each x 2 = $160 /
you do the math. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I really had been wishing someone would build something like this before I get headers but for $1300 I guess I will be going with the asm's. The Y pipe isn't worth that much. <img border="0" alt="[bullshit]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_bs.gif" />

Yes, these things are priicey. I can arrange for AS&M headers, 2 Car Sound high flow cats and a custom Y-pipe installed for that cost and much less for parts only. BUT, largely what you are paying for is the CARB certification (testing for this is NOT cheap nor easily achieved--note o2 sensor locations) and the "total package" as was outlined by FLP's earlier post.
This is a pricey venture to partake and isn't for the average bolt-on consumer. FLP has proven its performance in the past and I assume will have equally impressive results, but again this product is not for everyone. Some will be best suited using some of the existing options which have proven performance and are for the budget minded.
I'll be curious to see some quantitative and comparative data on this product (on stock but especially modified vehicles.)

Living in Oklahoma where we have NO emmissions testing and dont even have inspections anymore CARB means absolutely nothing to me. However I do like the fact that the come with all of the o2 fittings etc. I dont much care for the clamps either, all my exaust is welded, the only way to go in my mind.
Anyway, i'm interested to see where these go in the future, an off-road y-pipe would be essential for me, so keep us posted.
