Default 1 5/8" or 1 3/4" primaries

Long tube headers 1 5/8" hookers or 1 3/4" hookers/pacesetters, witch one would you run if you were looking for torque and mpg? Also 3" single pipe or smaller duals?

Sorry im a newbee and ive searched but damn there are alot of posts on headers.

On a stock or mild 4.8-5.3 I'd go with 1 5/8, if future mods include a healthy cam, headwork, etc. get the 1 3/4 so you have room to grow...just my .02

I agree with Budhayes, and I would also keep the Y-Pipe and just route it into a dual outlet muffler or so on. You'd be suprise at the amount of torque you'll loose on a stock truck by going to "true duals" with like...3" pipe.

1-5/8" header if you have the coin........ The probelm is all the 1-5/8" header offerings for our app's are expensive and most don't offer a y-pipe other than Hooker. When you start comparing the price of what you can get a complete pacesetter setup for you see why most people go that route.

I have looked all over the place for an affordable way to run a set on my 4.8, but can't justify there cost. Thorley, Hooker, Doug's, and bassani all make a set, but none are cheap....

I ran 1 5/8 and all my buddies run 1 3/4 pace setters and we seen no difference.
