well they are already on the truck...so if they arent hurting anything we might as well leave the shorties on it...he has a nitrous kit for the truck...only gonna spray it with a 75 shot...so we could just drill into the spacer and put the nozzle there?...
he is wanting to do a remote mount turbo on the truck to...but we might just end up mounting it up front anyway...dont have to spend 200$ on a remote oil pump

he picked up the 6.0/4l80 for cheap...1000 for complete motor, tranny and harness. bought it from a local rebuilder shop, has 35k miles on it outta an 04 Express van.
next time it goes to the track its gonna have some smaller wheels on the back, he has been talking about puttin a built th350 in it with a big convertor.

When I raced a Ford Lightning, it ran a 14.1 @99 mph to my 14.9@92 mph. And yous ay you are running 103 mph trap with a 4.8 with no power adder, or even a cam??
teh only explaination is a serious lack of traction. But even then.

hahaha there is no way you ran a 103 trap with that truck, unless you are seriously hiding something and you cant drive at all. haha I would say around 94 mph is believable.
back to topic...
A Th350 would not be the right tranny to put in that truck. The 80e robs a little to much power for what the truck is probably making and I would say that a well built 60e, like the ones offered by our site sponsor, FLT, would be a good choice. That along with a 3000 rpm converter and he should a have it running well into the 13's, mabye high 12's with slicks.

I might use a thm is a track only truck, but for a driver I would go 4l80e. Based on gear ratios alone, teh thm 200r4 trans form the Turbo 6's (GN, GNX, Turbo T) are the best.
2.74:1 1st, 1.71 2nd, 1:1 3rd and a deep 0.67:1 OD.
If big power is in the future, or if yu constantly beat on teh truck, the 80e should be used, if you drive on the more conservative side and dont plan on big power, a nice FLT 60e or 65e will work nicely with a nice stall converter to keep the large shift extension to a minimum due to teh large ratio spread of teh 60e type trans.
I wish the 80e had a higher OD gear, like .65:1 or something for better cruising. I do understand why GM decided on teh lower OD gear in teh 80e, simply because this trans was only offered in 3/4 ton trucks, save for teh 454SS and a few others. GM didnt want the crusie RPMs too low when folks are towing loads in OD.
