my truck was a 04 4.8,the motor I just got is outta a 03 2500 HD silverado.
It's gonna get all the stuff the 4.8 had, longtubes, wet kit,air intake, plug wires, cam, springs, oil pump, timing chain, push rods which I gotta check again, the heads on the 6.0 are stamped 317 and my 4.8 has 862?863? The 6.0 does have a drive by wire throttle body, I havent had a chance really tear the sixxer down, but I can grab the flywheel and it turns smooth and no hangups, if this truck dosent do at least a low 13 sec on a fifity shot and all the other stuff, she's going up for sale...

If you have the time or desire, yeah I agree pull the heads, pan, etc. I didn't though. IMO, you can take a good engine apart and it could have a problem when you put it back together. Sometimes **** happens.
My LQ9 is still running the stock oil pump and timing chain. It supposedly had 65k mi on it, when I bought it. I tend to believe it b/c I got a good impression from the guy who sold it to me. However that is what he heard from the people who sold it to him. The engine sat in his garage for a year. Sat for almost a year in mine. Pulled the cam w/o dowel rods for the lifters. Started it up with the original starter.
The 4.8 that we pulled had 160k miles on it. I gave it to my friend, who helped me with the build. He sold it for $100 to a guy who needed a stock replacement. The guy is still running it.
Good luck man. You'll be happy with all the extra cubes.

No head swap, just gonna pull it down and swap out cams, springs, pushrods, oil pump, timing chain set up,maybe have the heads gone though, clean it up and paint it get some things powder coated.
I will have some stock stuff for sale after I pull it off the motor,it has square coils on it and my truck has round one, I am gonna swap over EVERYTHING and then........
