Default 05+ 5.3 into 2002 Yukon

Hey guys. Dad's Yukon has 130k miles on the origonal motor and trans and he's wanting to basicallydo a swapout for a newer motor/tranny without buying brand new stuff. We've found a complete pullout 5.3 from an 05 with harness, ecu, etc along with the 4l60e with 11k miles on it. My question is this...

Will there be any issues in swapping this motor? Is there anything I need to look out for?

And I'm going to just...steal his used motor and put it in an 87 Monte Carlo SS

On the 05 pullout you'll want to remove the electronic throttle body and use your current cable throttle body. Other than that, it should be a direct drop in. You will reuse all of your current wiring, pcm, and electronics.

Ahhh, okay. That's my biggest thing... I didn't know if it was a direct drop in or what. I will be converting the old 5.3 to a cable TB for use in the MCSS.

He wants to swap out engines just because there's 130K on the clock? Has it not been maintained?

I can understand putting in a new tranny, though.

Yeah, it has been maintained very well. Oil/Filter change every 3k, M1 synthetic every time, radiator/engine flush every 36k miles, new plugs/wires every 50k miles (probably overkill).

He's just really **** about vehicles getting over 100k miles on them, even though with proper maintanence, they can last a LONG time.
