Default 04 GTO cam?

I was wondering if you could you throw a stock 04 GTO cam into a 5.3? If so, does anyone know the specs on this cam?

The 04 GTO came equiped with the LS1.... borrowed from the C5 Corvette, so....

GM specs for the LS1's cam is: 197/207 .467 .479 116 @ 0.05 duration

A guy over at LS1GTO.com had his cam doctored with 1500 mi and the results were:
197/209 .465 .476 116.5 LSA. Click for link....

Your cam specs should be pretty close to either of these two.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help, and Tractionless that was some good info. I'm looking for something with a 114 LSA though, what are the specs on the 05+ GTO and Z06 cams? I have the specs on the 01 Z06 cam somewhere around here, I had thought about going with it before.

i believe 116+.. the 01 was the lowest lsa of them all i think at 116? The rest were 116.5-117 but dont hold me to that. Try a search cause its been asked 45times in here over the past month

personally, i'd go with a proven 212/218 114 or something along those specs if you are spending the cash you can get those for 200 used while the ls6 cams are about 50bucks less

The only OEM cams with a 114lsa are the ones that come in our trucks with the LR4, LM7 ('00-'06) and the early LQ4s ('99 & '00). The L33 and LH6 come with a same duration 114lsa cam also, but with more lift.

The '99 4.8 and 5.3s had a 115.5lsa.

LR4/LM7: 191/190 .457 .466 114
L33/LH6: 191/190 .482 .482 114

The 01' LS6s had a 204/211 .525 .525 116 cam.

The 05' LS2's have a 200/203 .500 .500 116 cam

As you can see, OEM cams are not design for performance. Your best bet would be getting something like 98TAauto said, but if you can find a 216/220 114 or TR220... even better.

an LS2 cam would be a good OEM cam to go with.

Thanks for the help again everyone. I'm open to any cam that will be somewhat stealth and add most of the gain up top. I've asked this question before about stealth cams but never really got a for sure answer.
