Default 04 Denali XL LQ9 OR LQ4??? Also need a good tranny builder

I'm looking into doing the 6.0 swap in my 99 Sierra. Was looking around and found a 04 Yukon Denali 6.0 was wondering if the motor is a LQ9 or LQ4 . Will it be stamped on the block or would I have to pull one of the plugs to see if it has flat top or dished pistons?

Also looking for a good Transmission builder to build up a 4L60E. I know ,I know bout the 4L80E swap. I heard FLP trannys are good. Anywhere else that is in California?

Thanks
Danny

Well i cant recommend tranny guys but i can solve you engine dilemma.

All of the Denali's contain LQ4 engines, only the Escalades and VHO's get the LQ9. But when in doubt, check the VIN code.
On the 8th Digit, if its...
"U" = LQ4
"N" = LQ9

Also the SS truck has a LQ9,How about finding a low to no mile pull out LQ9 and 4L65E,slap a vette servo in it and be done.Might find a combo for around $3000-$3500.I would rather have a new or like new 4L65E than a RB 4L60E for the same or less money.

will the 4L65E bolt right in without getting new crossmembers? Also will the PCM have to be tuned to the 4L65E? Will the trailbalzer convertor work? What are the 65E in? I found a 6.0 for 1900.00 with 20,000 miles. Good deal or not.

Thanks
Danny

Ok i see a few separate questions so...

- Tuning should not be an issue since the 4L60 and 4L65 are identical from a functionality standpoint.

- The 4L65 are found on any application that uses the 6.0L block.

- Trailblazer convertors will bolt right up...

- The 4L60 (M30) 4L65 (M32) and 4L70 (M70) all use the exact same casting, based of the older 700R4. As long as you get a tranny from a 2wd vehicle it will bolt right up. Swapping a 4wd tranny into a 2wd vehicle is a little more involved. Im not sure but i think it involves swapping the output shaft and tailhousing (from a transfer case adaptor)
Hopefully someone with more tranny experience speaks up
