Default '02 Tahoe won't start w/ 1/8th tank of gas

I don't know what the deal is but whenever the fuel level is about 1/8th or lower on my '02 Tahoe then it won't start. I thought it was because the truck was on a slight incline but now it's doing it in our driveway which is a VERY slight incline. I'm talking if the brake is off and you're in neutral then the truck will just barely begin to roll backwards but really slowly. Anyways, what is causing this? The low fuel light isn't even on. It's happened about 4 times now and each time I just add about 2 gallons of gas and it starts right up. Is my fuel gauge off or is the fuel pump going out? After I add the 2 gallons it goes up to showing about 1/4 tank. Any ideas? Truck is all stock w/ about 65K miles.
TIA

your fuel level sensor is going bad.

I hope that's all it is. I can't imagine that's easy to swap out though.

I pulled into my driveway (slight incline...SLIGHT) on Friday night and as soon as I did the LOW FUEL light came on. This was the first time it came on, it's not like I was driving around on it for awhile. Anyway, when I came out Saturday morning, it wouldn't start! I put some gas in it and it fired right up. I've driven 25 miles or so before with the light on, but I won't be doing that again.
