Default 02 2500 6.0- heads off, mods for torque?

3 broken exhaust studs in the head lead to pulling the heads. Now I want to do some mods while its apart. It 2wd w/4.10's & I drive it daily. I'd like more low end/mid range. I have a set of 5.7 LS1 heads I could use (if possible) Or I could get a truck/torque cam. I tow a couple times a week & have a 20ft enclosed trailer I tow on the highway 3-4 times a year. I want to stay with 87 fuel & maintain smooth idle. I will be getting it tuned when finished to turn on my e-fans. Open to suggestions, but I want to stay reasonable on the budget.

If you dont want to go FI.. A nice head and cam package would give you more low and midrange power.
