I just have a couple of questions for you guys.

When you swapped to the 6.0L radiator did you have to change the transmission cooler lines or radiator hoses. I don't want to get the thing in there and then find this out. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

Thanks

John

no, no

it bolted right in and the lines hooked right up, i did redo those ruber flaps on the sides on the radiator and would think you would need the correct shroud if you don't have electric

Just checking in and bam my question is answered. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Going with a flex-a-lite and 6.0L radiator setup.

Thanks parish8 <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

John

PS - How much longer for your trans.?

did you order the 282? i think that was the number, the 282 has prety nice brackets and bolts up real nice and secure.

suposta be here on thursady or friday, hope to have it in this weekend, i am sick of babying my truck!!

i talked to a tranny shop about the yank converter that is in there and the debre from the failing tranny. they told me to check the stock filter and see if there is any metal in it, if there is they will split the converter, clean, reweld and balance for $150. if no metal then they told me just to get as much of the old oil out and not worry about it. can't wait!!

I'll probably order the fans tonight and radiator tomorrow. Jegs shows the number as 280. What is the difference between the 280 and 282? I think I remember something on here about that so I'll do a search.

Good deal on the trans. Time to see what that truck is really capable of. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Brandon - I would not recommend going with just one single fan. The highest flowing 16" fans(~3000cfm) might have enough flow but, they don't cover the whole radiator like the dual shrouded setups. I wonder if you could use the stock mechanical fan shroud as a shroud for a single 16-18 fan? That might work OK since it would be pulling air across the whole face of the radiator.

One thing I don't want to experiment with is engine cooling. I had my share of that with my old '92 355 S10. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> I'm going with a tried and true solution. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

i tried the 280 because the 282 was always on back order, i figured i could make it work but it turned out to be alot harder than i thought it would be, the 282 kit is just a couple of extra brackets and they are real nice. they make mounting it effortless. i called up flexalite and played dumb, told them i thought the 280 was for my truck, aparently there is some advertizing that says it will work, they overnighted the right brackets for free.

i have a 160stat and i am able to keep my temps at 170-176 all the time. i can go beat the hell out of my truck on a 90 deg day and get it up to 180 or so but it cools right back to 172 or so in a matter of minutes.

i think with the cooler weather, firmer shifts, 6psi insted of 5 and maybe a few ls1edit adjustments i will be well into the 13's.
