Default Z71 guys, what tires are running?

Done a search with no great luck.

I want to go 285/70/17 but may stay with the stock size 265/70/17, but also found a tire that is a 275/70/17. Want to something that is good in dirt and mud but not an all out mud tire. I have the Bridgestone dueler ATs now, factory tire, but they suck in the grass or dirt or mud. They are great on the highway, in the rain, or snow but we ride atvs alot and usually end up on dirt roads or fields etc. Load of at least a D and good treadwear. I dont care if they roar a little. Need something that is decent in the snow/rain, handling, etc. I dont race the truck so speed rating??, thats not a concern.

I like the BFG but they are expensive. I have them on one truck and even though they are a great tire, I just cant afford them now. 265s are $159 ea 285s $185 ea.
Bridgestone Revos are a little cheaper but not much.

Talked to a guy with the mastercraft couser CTs and he loves em. I can get the 265s for $128 and the 275s for $132, 285s are $140. Load range on them is 265s are E and the 275s/285s are D. Anybody have any info on these?

I have a friend the mastercraft couser ATs and they suck in the grass and mud. So I have ruled those out. They are more of a highway tire, kinda like what I have now.

I'm running the Nitto Grapplers 295x70x17 with no rubbing, you just have to
crank up the torsion bars to get the truck to set level and have the front end re-alligned.

I've been looking at the MasterCraft Courser CT's. I have heard lots of good about them and they are one of the few tires that you can get in the 275-70-17 size.

One of the reasons I dont want to go any bigger than 285s is bc I have the 3.42 gears. I figure the 275s maybe a better choice. I d love to go to the 295s but cant afford a gear change right now.

I found the BFGs for $185 locally. Hes always $20-$50 cheaper on tires, especially on the BFGs. I got BFGs for my other truck for $129 ea and everywhere else wanted at least $155. Plus he offers free rotation, balance and tire repairs for life. Needless to say, he stays swamped. And alot of tires if he recommends them and you dont like them after a month, he ll credit you the price of those tires towards another set.

I m leaning really heavy towards the courser CTs.

how do you have 3.42's with the z71 package? is this a new option? cause from what i know all z71's have a locking rear differential with 3.73's, thats why they have the 31inch diamiter tire stock.

Thats what I thought too when I bought the truck. It also has the towing package. BUT according to the window sticker and the sticker in the glove box, I have 3.42s. I think it was something new they did in 05.

Yeah, it is an 05-up thing. They started using 3.23 gears stock in all 2WD trucks, 3.42 gears stock in the 4x4's. I have them too on my 06

I have the 285's on my Yukon XL and really like them. The 305's on my z71.

My 2005 GMC Sierra 4x4 came with 3.73's and the locking differential.

I think the 3.73 are standard and you could order the optional 3.42 or 4.10
differentials.
