Default Year to Year changes on the 4L60E

I have searched but can't find anything. The engine I am getting for my S-10 is from a 99 Silverado. The truck is 4x4 and my setup is going to be 2wd. My friend doesn't have a same year 2wd trans, but he does have one from an 04. I am under the impression that for the most part they are the same.

Can someone please confirm or deny this for me. It will save me a good amount of money if I can get everything from my buddy rather then buy it from someone I don't know.

Also, while I am asking, what is the difference between 4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L transmissions if they come out of otherwise identical trucks?

I'm pretty sure all the 60e's for nbs trucks are the same. With the exception of the 4l65e, which came in most SUVs. The 65e is a little stronger.

The 65e is in the same case. Just has different internals.

I would still like to know, although my buddy found me a 99 4L60E tranmission today.
