I ran a TT3000 before going FI and was very pleased with it. Yanks are 'tight' and have good STR. Towing should be ok with a cooler.

a few guys here locally have had their tci lockup clutch replaced at a local shop, but its to early so i dont know how long it will last.

the tci is a nice converter with a cottoncandy lockup clutch, but other than that, its good on the street and the strip. try looking around locally first if possible

yeah, the first one i had the lockup clutch went out at 5k mi. i sent it off to tci and they sent me a brand new one except with the billet steel front cover and bigger clutches i think. this converter now has 6 to 7k mi. on it now.

this past wed. i was changing the fluid and filter before making the long trip home and man i was supprised at what i saw in the pan. it was full of bronze chunks and lots of fine metal. the truck was running fine and no signs of the tranny messing up.

so i went ahead and dropped the tranny, took it over to my friends house, put it on the tranny stand, and started to disassemble it. took it down to just the casing, found a couple of filters clogged, cleaned everything real well. cound not find any worn clutches (they still had plenty of meat) and inspected all the hard parts and nothing. then i came to the conclusion that is has to be coming from the tc.

so i assembled everything back together and put it in the truck with the stock tc. its a freakin turd now, lol... my shift pts are off but i don't care b/c i don't need to hotrod it. just need to make the trip safely to louisiana to haul my car back.

i'd like to move up to a 3200 or 3400 since i have a second vehicle but i don't know yet how much i'll be towing. that's why i was thinking about this converter b/c it retains factory towing rating.

sorry for the long story, just thought i'd fill yall in on the scoop.

Lance, Tan327 had the TT3000, it is stock size physically, will hold more fluid than your TCI, which makes for more rotating weight, and is way to tight. It is nice for DD, but his shifted at 6400 and dropped to about 4000. Yank makes some good stuff, but I just want you to know that once you go with the TT3000 your commited because its based on the 2600 and can't be re-stalled to loosen it up. If I were you, I would look for a SS3400 or maybe even a 3600.

I liked mine, wish it would've been a little looser though.

Me too, it will barely brake stall to 2600 rpm, if it was just a touch looser it would be perfect!!!!

I've been loving mine for over 2 years....maybe closer to 3 in January. No problems at all, and it knocked a solid .5 off of my E.T. I think it is plenty loose for me, and wouldn't want much more in a 2wd truck. I think it is a little much for a 2wd truck and a Radix, as they offer so much low end torque it makes for impossible launches. If you were closer, I'd let you drive my truck. I'm sure somebody close to your area has one that would at least take you for a ride in it. With the 6.0, if I even bring it up on the converter at all it's Toast for the tires!

Good ole TCI huh?

I loved how my TCI drove too but the lockup went out on it and I ditched it right away, now I have a Fuddle and when I go 80e I will be getting a PI. I know you dont want to spend the money for a PI but everyone has really good luck with them.

I'm very happy with my TT3000. It is a little tight but very nice for DD. It's a lot more fun to drive now too.
