Honestly i'm not partial to any tire right now. I want whats gonna hook and get me down the track the fastest ya know.
That was the first time i even took my truck to the track in over a year. Been having fun with the bolt on rcsb lol.

He has a rollpan, no spare tire and no tailgate and thing hooks up fine on the 275 40 17 drag rads. They hook up fine on the street also, just like mine do.

Im just going over this stuff dont mean to cause a stir with everyone. Then again the tbss has a lot more weight over the rear end than the trucks do and different suspension.

Hey Tony - Do you think your buddy would let me try them out just on the street. The ET streets are almost bald and I need some tires before the next time I go to the track.

Do not forget gear reduction from transmission? If I can stay in first gear longer I will run a better ET with my 30" over my 28". Which with taller tires you will stay in first and second longer before hitting direct drive third. My 60' are the same for both 28" and 30" 1.60 to 1.61. Taller tires help my ET's about .200.....

Here's the thing, while the tires might be good enough to hook, it doesn't mean the track always is. I don't have experience with sticky tires on my truck. Heck, it still has the factory white letter Generals... However, I have run sizes from 25" to 29" on my Impala SS. It was just a bolt-ons car, but those bolt-ons included 4.10s and a hard hitting 9.5" Vigilante converter that flashed to 3800. It's been known to pop the left front tire up an inch on a good launch.

The best 60' time I was able to get with 26x10.5 MT ET Streets was a 1.799 in good track conditions. The tires hooked great, however, my car had 2 tons of weight transfer. The front end would come way up getting a little air under the tire, but it didn't have enough power to stay up. The front would come down and pull the back end up letting the tire unload and spin a bit.

I put headers on and switched to 28" 275/60R15 BFG DRs on the same 15x8 Draglites and ran in even better conditions and was able to get my sixty foot time down a tenth to 1.699. I also picked up 4.3 tenths, but only .9mph by the end of the track. I still think it was spinning a bit on that run though. The front end definitely came up and got air, but the front didn't drop so quick because I was able to keep the power applied for longer.
