The only one's that I know of that don't use the Gov-Lock is the Quadrasteer trucks.

LOL...I can laugh about it now, but it happened the nite I was picking it up after waiting 2mos for the engine rebuild (after that puked!)...got about 2 miles and sat on the side of the road and really tried to cry! Well $1300 bucks later I changed the snapped front yoke, both u joints and all new RR end! I got thru all that, and now it looks like the 4L80 is burnt up...my wife is ready to divorce me!

I suggest, that if u upgrade to the 4L80, the RR end shud be done at the same time - its just not strong enuf for anything greater than stock apps IMO.

I think anyone running 2wd and making enough power to go faster than a 13.5 or so shouldn't be trusting their Gov-Lock. I'm planning to replace mine with a Detroit Locker later this year. I'm rather impressed that you're unit held as long as it did honestly.

It only held for 3000 miles of engine break-in...If I'd been at max boost instead of 6lbs and not babying it, I doubt I'd have made it out of my driveway!

This is why I replaced mine before anything happened. I also went with an Auburn unit and am completely satisfied

^^^^^ EXACTLY! As simple of a concept this is there are always going to be the naysayers professing the virtues of the G80's power handling just because they've been lucky so far...
