Default Why the hell cant I hook?

I went to the track today and I am pissed. my suspension setup is caltracs with 28'' et streets on stock aluminum wheels. The best 60 ft time I could pull was a 2.07 and my average was 2.37, worst was a 2.9. The best time happened with 16 psi and anything under that I would sway down the track. Before the caltracs I was running clamps and I managed consistent 1.85s. Question is how do I adjust caltracs for track conditions? Right now they are till it hits the spring and 1/4 turn more. Truck has a **** load of torque so I know its not power limited I just can't plant it. Would 16x10 wheels and some 30'' slicks be my solution or what the hell can I try next?

Are you spraying out of the whole? 16psi? I dont see any FI in your sig. How are you launching? Something is screwy. I pulled a 2.9 in my Tahoe with the 5.3 and 24's on it spinning through first.

I launch by flashing my 3000 stall. When I stall it is when it really spins the slicks and gives me my suckiest 60 ft. 16psi is the tire pressure and that is all motor. I cant wait till if figure this out and spray out of the hole.

Did you tighten the bars till they are totally tight or did they have some slop in it?

How well was the track prepped? Track prep makes or breaks if I hook or not. How hot was the weather? That will make you suffer some too.

He was at a shitty ****** track called Desert Thunder. I'll compare my runs from there to Penwell. Desert Thunder- best 60' was 2.01, the next week went to Penwell- best 60' was 1.83. Desert never preps the track like it's supposed to be. It's a new track, and they don't know what the **** they are doin. Somethin might be wrong with the adjustment of the Caltracs too, but Desert Thunder is the main reason for the shitty 60's.

Were you running the same tires and psi with the clamps? Maybe you need to find the psi sweet spot with the caltrac setup?

How wide are those steets?

Tires are the same 28X11.5X16 and I tried psi from 20 to 15. At 20 they would spin like hell and at 15 they would hook a little better but the truck would sway back and forth down the truck. 16 psi was the best compromise of the night. Weather was 85 and DA is always high but that should help it hook not hurt since it makes less power right? As far as the track goes I go the same 60 fts at both tracks so that is not it. Next time out I'm taking off the caltracs bar and doing a with and without comparison. Any other ideas?

Too much bottom end torque and a 3.06 low gear =spin. I'm running 30x13.50x15 M/t ET's and I still spin the **** out of them. I adjust my Caltracs like you said, removed the front sway bar and got my 60' down to 1.6X's.....still spinning.
