Default When to upgrade driveshafts

Im going a lot of work on my truck, and trying not to overlook anything important and the last thing to coem to my attention is the possible need to upgrade my driveshafts. Im expecing to be seeing 400+rwhp/torque and will also be spraying a 125 shot of nitrous, possible higher later on as well. I have an extended cab which is why I keep saying driveshafts with an "s". I found a website who makes driveshafts for any application, made for nitrous and with a lifetime warranty. Would I be needing to upgrade my driveshafts for the power i'll be making?

Thanks a bunch yall.
If it matters, 3.42 gears now, will be going with 3.90's before the truck will see the track.

How long is the stocker? What material, steel or aluminum? Do you have a 2-part driveshaft?

An aftermarket shaft is one of the overlooked parts of building up our trucks, IMO. I talked with Denny's Driveshaft about that, and he told me there's only a 5 pound weight difference between steel vs aluminum. Personally, I'm going with a steel shaft with 1350 universals. All get a "high speed" balance, too.

I agree with everybody, not only power but critical speed is what kills these shafts. Upgrading it isn't such a bad idea....if anything, gets some loops on. HOWEVER, you said driveshaftS. If you have the carrier w/ a 2 piece, I'd stick my neck out and say you are fine. I haven't read any threads of 2 pieces breaking up on people. Not that it couldn't happen, but...I swapped my one piece for a stock 2-piece. No problems yet. I am guessing I am in the mid 400HP area. Just make sure it is well balanced and gets loops on.

I thought you couldn't get a 3:90 for a 10 bolt?

And while you are changing out the shaft, install a loop or too just to be safe. N2O can be hell on a DS.

Thanks for the advice, im going to look around some and see if there are any problems out there with these shafts failing, if not I will possibly just put plenty of loops under there and get them balanced by Denny's.
