I know this is a old post, just posting if anyone is following it. I just put my Tru Cool from my 01 to my stock 06 2500hd. My trans temp so far never get off 100f. It take about 20miles before the TCC engauages, and since the install I don't like the shifts do to the ECM trying to heat up the fluid. Going to have to sell the cooler and get a smaller one I guess.

I know this isn't really along the lines bc I don't have a big cooler or a stall but my tranny is brand new GM tranny seems to act funny when it's EXTREMELY cold out and seems like it doesn't want to lock in.. But if u lock converter it does great and after it warms up it does great so I think yes it can be too cold but idk whole lot bout them and I dont have an awesome sig pic! Haha but I put in my 2 cents!

You don't have to sell the cooler, just buy Tru Cool's Thermal bypass.

if your replacing the stock cooler with a 40k it should already be ran through the radiator? mine seems to lock up the tc when the truck hits 210*

I just went through all this also. My trans guy told me that there is not a too cold for a transmission. You do however have to go in with your tuning software and tune the shift points for colder temps if its gonna run colder. Mine never got over 135 the other night after racing and it shifted great after we turned the line pressure up like where we had it set for when its warm.

my truck (2010 rclb 4.8l 4wd 4l60e) runs 130-140 right now while its cold out, and around 150-160 during the summer. i have the heavy duty trailering package which includes the factory trans cooler, in addition to the one in the radiator.

however, i got it a little stuck in a snowy rut the other day, and had the trans up to 242 on the gauge. still runs fine right now, but i have a feeling it's gonna die soon. only 2 weeks till i order my perfomabuilt lvl 2!!!

I was driving home from work tonight and it was 19 degrees out and I was all in the throttle for most of the adventure. Its only about 5 miles home and the tranny temp was at 88 when it was slapping gears and not missing a beat!!!

i dono, but i think mechanicly...the transmisson acts alot better when its in the right temp

cause i know that the clutches and verter will slip some time when the temp is eather low or high
