i'been researching the posibilities of swaping my 4l60 for a 4l80 or a 6 speed. i'm planning on boosting 25-30 pounds of boost to a little forged 4.8 so there's no hope for my 4l60. so far i know i need a spacer and some other stuff to do a 4l80 swap i think speed engieneerin sells the kit for 3200 bucks... But i think that's a lot of money invested in an auto transmission since i never wanted my truck to be auto. A 6 speed tranny runs for 1500-1700 but i don't know what else is needed for the swap. my question is what is the best tranny for my aplication and what's the cheapest way to go.

 

Are you gonna run it at the track? If so, the auto will be much easier to get good times with. My swap ran about 1500.00 including converter. Used 4l80e and stock converter was 850.00. Used 2800 Art Carr stall was 350.00. Wiring harness was 170.00 shipped. The rest was a Spacer and having the crossmember modified. Just a shift kit will be enough for the 80e to hold the power you will be making. Check out 1truess. I think thats the right name.
