Default whats the difference between a ''beefed'' tranny and a normal tranny?????

well i was talking to my local ''aftermarket parts dealer'' and i was asking about how much he could sell me a 65e for and he said he would have to check, anyways i mentioned FLT's 65e-level 5 tranny saying its extreme duty or something, anyways he says its bull he said all 65e are the same, i asked him well whats it mean when someone has a ''beefed'' tranny and he said there is no difference, just a shift kit, is this true? what is the meaning of having a beefed 65e as opposed to a normal 65e? i ask because im going to be looking into buying a 65e pretty soon, im sure ima need one with the sts and cammed LQ9, and also how much hp can the FLT level 5 65e withstand???? thanks fellas

WELL, I guess according to this guy my 65e with raybestos blue clutches, steels, larger band,H.D. 5 pinion planetaries, larger boost valve, ZIPPY shift kit, billet servos,ETC is the same as a stock 65e DONT TRUST the local trans guy, the ones i talked to around here really dont understand how to build a performance trans for our trucks, Thats why i drove 6hours to michigan to have ZIPPY and T.J. build mine!

First off I think your local guy is full of . Here is a list of added parts not found is a STOCK 4L65E......

FLT performance pump
Cryogenically treated FLT sleeved input drum
Cryogenically treated input sprag races
Cryogenically treated low roller race
Cryogenically treated bearing style reaction shaft
Cryogenically treated output shaft
Wide 2-4 band
8 B/W high-energy clutches in 3-4 pack
FLT beast shell w/bearing
B/W 29 element sprag
Transgo HD-2 shift kit
Corvette Servo
Updated accumulator pistons
Set end play to performance specs
Sonnax super hold 4th gear servo

This was taken straight off FLT's site. I removed all the standard parts that would already be found in a new stock 4L65E. You local guy isn't gaining any credability here!!!!IMO

Hey Tim 65's come standard with 5 pinion planetaries and steels. But yes most builders ain't got a clue how to build hp units.

I think his core charge is $500. It will hold up close to 750 rwhp im sure. The most power anyone has put to it so far is about 600rwhp/700rwtq with no problems what so ever. Your setup doesnt look like it will be that much, 425-475 rwhp sounds about right for that setup.

Just call Chuck at FLT. He will answer any question you may have, that would be the best way to get your questions answered.

YES, youre definitley right on that, I started with a 60e that they basically built to 65e specs with upgrades of course.

Hmmm so does anybody know if there is like maybe a kit or something you can buy to make a built 65e or anything??? Or do the parts have to be bought individually

Call FLT dude. You can buy parts seperately but why when you will have no warranty. I have a fully built 65e that just needs new clutches if you just want a built 65e. It has almost everything the level 5 FLT trans does.
