im pretty sure the 90's were only in 3/4 tons and up and the 80's are in 1/2 ton platforms.

im getting right about 47" from bellhousing to end of transfer case in an 08' AWD Denali. i say "about" because it was the closest i could get measuring around stuff. I measure the transfer case as "about" 23.5" so that makes the transmission "about" 23.5" as well.

This came off of a TBSS forum:

AWD/4WD Transmission-bellhousing to end of output shaft (bellhousing to end of case)
4L70: 26.875" (22.25")
6L80: 27.125" [+.250"] (23.3")
6L90: 28.625" [+1.750"] (24.7")
4L80: 29" [2.125"] (26")

Wrong, he does not.

It's a 6L90E from an LY6 powered 2500HD. The 2500HD pickup trucks never came with a 6L80E. The glove box RPO code will be MYD for that transmission. 8DKA is a GM identifier for a 6L90E.

with a 29 spline output shaft??? NEVER seen a 90 with the smaller output shaft. Didn't know they made a 2500HD AWD setup either... Somebody was throwing stuff together that week.
