Im going with an adapter shaft between the 4L80E and my current transfercase

 

I have that same case and dammit i cant remember off the top of my head, but there is a tag on the back of the case that will tell you, I think maybe its a 261 ??? . Its one of those numbers i know but can never remember.

I bought that same adaptor your needing though ( tranfer case input shaft), it wasnt hard at all to install, just have to tear apart the t case but its not bad.

Good choice on going with an 80E.

 

i think its a 246 but want to make sure, its a friends truck, he tored 13 4l60e's and he finaly agreed to the swap, going for big ci arround 408 on his lq4

246. Came stock behind 4L80E's in 1500HD's.....

 

he always said I dont want to lose the 15hp differnce between the 60 and 80

also the gearing on the 60e is much better

yeah we dont have those here, do they come in 2500 burbans?

 

the transfer cases that have the auto 4wd, 4hi, 4low, and 2 hi are the np246's

the manually shifted transfercases are the np261's

electronically shifted transfercases without auto 4wd is the np263
