I'll hopefully be swapping in a posi along with a set of 4.10's soon. Right now I'm running 275/60/17. I'm pretty sure I'll end up going back to my stock rims sooner or later. What tire size would you all recommend for stock rims?

theres a few decisions you have to make:

what rpm you want to run at hwy speeds.
what rpm you would like to end the 1/4 mile in.
what kind of tires you want (sizes vary for each brand). ------like you didnt know lol.

I run stock tire size 245/70/17, yeah traction sucks in the streets, but @ 70mph my rpm's are @ 2150-2200rpm... I wouldnt go with anything smaller, I think the mileage will go down hill quick...

275/60 17's would work great with 4.10's IMO. Probably see a little less mpg but not much. The difference out of the hole would be worth it. A 275/60 is close to stock size; 265/70 with 4.10's would be about the same as a 275/60 with 3.73's I think.

i went from 3.73's to 4.10's in mine and my mileage hasnt changed. or atleast i havent noticed. its a truck for god sakes if i wanted good gas mileage id get a civic.

I am wanting to go from 3.73's to 4.10's also. I am running 275-55-17's right now and getting very decent mileage, about 18-19 mpg running 70 +/- miles a day at 70mph. I was thinking though about going to a 285-60-17 tire on the rears, just to get a little more meat back there. I don't know if running different sized tires from front to back would cause any problems or if the tires would even fit on the stock Denali wheels.

285s and 4.10 but i have a 5 spd and its almost perfect im turnin about 6200 through the traps. Keeps my shifts down to 2.

So is a bigger wheel/tire is better as you up in gears? Or what about a 285/5X/17?

somebody correct me if im wrong but if your trap rpm is too high where you need another gear then you would want to go up to a taller tire. (I would think)
