Why doesn't GM just put them on in the first place I wonder? It's a stupid 5 cent rubber bushing to them. Welp, I'm going to put my life in jeapordy and just remove them Like 01WS6/tamu said, if you're in a bad enough wreck to rip the cab off the frame, you're going to die anyways. Might as well die squeak and creak free

Thanks,

the dealer didn't remove them. if i remember correctly, they said the cables were binding-up causing it to creak, and they supposedly loosened them up and pulled some slack to try and free'em up a bit. i had the sterring shaft work done back around oct/nov and it just started up again the last month or so.

Ok when I was under my truck I saw the cables that you talk about, this was sometime ago (4-5 months ago) and I thought they were loose so I tried tightening them but they were already tight. So I went down to the auto parts store and bought a couple of washers to put on them and viola I GOT A SQUEAK that I didn't have before so I checked the cables to see if they were moving and I couldn't budge 'em. Ran around for about a month till I finally got tired of all the noise that I would here as I ran over bumps at low speed or just braking, etc. So I climb back under there and take the washers out and let the cables move around again and VIOLA NO SQUEAKING !!! Back to my normal quiet ride so I left it alone and all is well. Go figure huh. I say check for them binding or take them off if that's your fancy. I'm just giving you my experience w/ them and this is w/ almost 200K on the clock...Zed

Well, it's been over a week now and not so much as a peep or creak or moan from my truck. The problem was definatly those F(*&%% cab cables!!! Stupidest thing I've ever seen. If I'm in a wreck bad enough where I would actually need those cables, I wouldn't want to be saved. A wreck that bad would be sure to leave someone in a vegatative state. So anyways, if anyone here has creaking noise while braking or rattles while going over bumps, start at the cab cables and go from there. They're easy to remove and sure make a world of difference in the way your truck drives.

you wouldnt happen to have a pic of where those are located exactly do ya? i havent been under the truck yet but i do have a single cab as well with some kind of loose sound under there. could be the cables, but I also have some squeaky leaf springs as well. 04 and this truck already makes sounds. god damn chevy, get it together. but, i wouldnt get rid of my truck for the world. still an awesome truck

I can take a pic sure, I won't put them back on to show you though They're located at both rear cab corners and they are located on the outside of each frame rail. I can take a pic of where they WERE if you want. You can clearly see where they were and where they're supposed to be located on a truck. Just lemme know.

Thanks,

Joe
