Default What rear gear for my turbo truck

What rear gear would work the best with my truck.
5.3 72mm turbo 3000 stall and 4l60e. Rcsb 2wd truck.
right now I believe the truck has a 3.73 rear gear.

I had 4l60 and 3.42's with 275x20's. Changed to 4.10's and knocked off .64 in the 1/8th. My tires were tall though at 32". You should use an online calculator to see what you want to trap in the 1/4 in 3rd gear. Wallace Racing-Drag Racing Pontiac powered Firebirds,Trans Ams and Dragsters Don't be afraid of gear if you are still happy on the highway.

Better worry about that 60e first...you're gonna kill that thing quick.

I’m not to worried About the trans. It’s a fully built 4l60e and haven’t had a problem with it. Put a big trans cooler and make sure it doesn’t get hot.

I've had two "fully built" 60es go **** up under hard driving conditions.. only a matter of time but, don't take my word for it...search the threads for countless others who've chased the built 60e. It's not the heat that'll kill it but the weaker internals that are available for it. JMTC

Unless you’ve got some secret sauce recipe that no one has ever heard of, save yourself some coin and heartache and swap it when it fails, and it will fail.

I killed 6 "built" 4L60's before I swapped. For me not swapping in the beginning was a very costly mistake. Good luck.

It always does 😂

its relevant tho because if the OP goes from 60 to 80 it may change his selection of gear

Turbos like load, so I'd be inclined to stay with what you got. Why are you looking to regear?
