a 99 Z71. Is it the 8.5 chevy or what?

 

ya.. 8.5 30 spline i beleive.. they advertise them as 88 and up rear ends for 10 bolt gm trucks.. maybe those rears go back even further than that, i dont remember.

 

Thanks also do you know if a thorsen gleason for the 8.5 will fit or not. I bought it for a 12 bolt wonder if it will fit my 99

 

no clue.. i hear guys doing 12 bolt swaps all the time tho... someone should chime in sooner or later.. or u can make a new post asking that.... good luck.

They actually call it an 8.6, but it is identical to the 8.5 except for carrier bearings. The 99-up rears have a different carrier bearing and case internals than the 89-98, and the 88-earlier rears are 28 spline. A 12 bolt carrier will not fit in an 8.5.
