Default What exactly does the TCC do?

Im an auto dummy and dont know what the TCC is or does. I was changing some stuff in my tune for make way for a 2800 stall and built trans and was searching around and see some talk about changing the TCC apply/ release tables. I need to know what it does to be able to change it and what to look for.

I thought the converter only lock in 4th while crusing (the couple hundred RPM drop), but by my HPT tables, it locks in 3rd and 4th..

On my truck atleast, 3rd and 4th lockup speeds are so close that it only locks in 4th even though it should lock in 3rd as well. But if I manually put it in 3rd, it will lock up.

torque converter clutch

you can make it lock whenever you want, a lot of guys lock them at high rpm at WOT, but you need a good converter for that. I disabled lockup except for 4th gear just cruising around.

Thats what I thought. Whats the point of it locking in any other gear but cruising in 4th?

More time spent in gear and less shifting = faster. Its also more effecient with the converter locked.

Stupid question: how do u just lock it in? I am assuming you mean just it's set to lock in your tune at certain RPMs? What bout when u flip tow/haul? What's the do as far as torque converter?
Newbie question obviously

Its actually a MPH based table and is set to release at 100% throttle and can be enabled "through the shifts".. this TCC stuff is new to me so maybe someone else has a better answer. I know you can command it locked.

An better torque multiplication or well static in 3rd due to the 1:1 ratio but atleast not reducing tq in OD. A lot of poeple trap higher locking it but you have to have enough power to benefit from it and be able to power through the lower rpm that locking the converter brings.

In your case Country, its not worth messing with.
