In my experience Richmond street gears are noisy, no matter where I set the pinion depth or the backlash. I wind up setting them up so that the whining happens at a high mph most times. I've had really good luck with Yukon and Motive in the past.
Stick with a brand name fluid, Pennzoil is what I use.
You'll need a magnetic base dial indicator, a set of calipers and a torque wrench. Also, you'll need a good assortment of shims in order to set the pinion depth properly. Google the gear installation, I'm sure there are some quality instructional videos on youtube. After you watch them, decide if it's something you want to try. Many do-it-yourselfers decide that it's a job best left to professionals who've done it many times.
Good luck with it!
