You took the words out of my mouth. I say sell your good 4L60 while its' still good and buy a built one from FLT or whoever you like. Now you don't even have a good core. I knock on wood every day with my 90k mile stock trans. Sorry to hear of others misfortune.

This sucks because i have a 4l80e but wont be doing much to truck for a while hate the gear difference, yeah you wont notice if your pushing 500 hp+ but I'm only be pushing 300hp+............a long while.

Why not feel for the first groove after you seat the ring? That is to say, seat the ring where you believe is correct and then take a pic or something narrow and sharp and feel for the groove. If the ring is installed correctly than your pic should get caught up on the first groove before it hits the ring. If it doesnt get caught up, than you've seated the ring in the first groove. Just a suggestion.

I still think it was where my snap ring ended up. The opening to the snap ring ended up right where you the opening is where you pull the blue o-ring and cut it to remove it. I should hve put the split of the o-ring 180 degrees away from the opening.......o well

LOOK KID'S I KNOW MAGIC I CAN TURN $25 INTO $2500...........KAAZAM

From now on I will, but when I did it this first time, I just didnt do the research and didnt know about the second groove......Kiser, are you saying you had to cut the big o-ring and re-use it? Mine came with a new one, not that it matters now....On the bright side, I can guarantee that I wont make the same mistake again!

Ok I did this install two weeks ago and I remember cursing the hell out of that snap ring until I finally put it in. Could mine still be in wrong or would it have broken by now if it was in wrong? Another thing that I just remember my uncles truck broke from there two years after buying a 2003 1/2ton truck from the dealer brand new.

Well, I put about 65 miles on mine before it **** the bed. Both hard and easy miles though. All I know for sure is that it was an expensive learning experience. Ron
