Default Weird sound in 4WD.

I recently converted my AWD vehicle to 4WD. I did leave the AWD axle in front.

Tried the 4WD in snow today. Seems to work great in 4hi and lo when driving around with normal power.

However... if I try to goose it where the front will break loose I am hearing a clanking or pinging sound which seems to come from the front axle. dont feel like i am loosing power but i dont want to break anything. it sounds like if you banged a screwdriver on a thin piece of sheet metal.

I have no idea what it could be.

Halfshalf is breaking down?
Loose axle bolts?
Something wrong in the front diff?
front driveshalf i had made is too short and doesn't fully engage in the transfer case?

I really dont think the AWD front axle is screwing it up but who knows. It can be converted to 4wd style if needed.
