Default Typical break-in on new tranny

What's the typical break-in period for a newly built performance tranny?

Ok I'm supposed to be easy for 500 miles, have it re-checked at the shop, then slowly ramp it up over the next 500 miles or so. I wonder what the difference is.

Do the mail order tranny guys break them in at the shop before they send them out? Or is a break in not necessary at all?

Tranny builders that have confidence in there work say no break in needed.Just think of how many RVs and trailer pullers break down on the road and when they leave the trans shops all loaded up they take off ***** to the walls.

Not aamco, but I'm starting to wonder if this guy knows what he is doing. His first tranny that he built for me was perfect, lasted quite awhile. This one has been nothing but problems.
