Default Trutrac Swap???

So from what I understand my buddy has a 93 z71 with a 8.5" 10 bolt and a Trutrac, in order to swap my G-80 (05 z71) with his trutrac so he can sell his truck, all I have to change is the bearings on both of them and then swap the ring gears over right?
Thanks
Ryan

Well I guess another problem would be that mine is a 30 spline axle, what are the chances of his being a 30 spline and not a 28?

I believe the spline count changed from 28 to 30 in 1989 so you should be good to go.

yeah as long as the spline count is the same they will work, but its not as easy as pressing bearings on and bolting it back together. Both rearends will need the gears "setup".

IT WONT WORK!!!! The hub on his carrier is smaller than your hub. They make the conversion bearing for your carrier to fit iin his but not the conversion bearing for his to fit in yours.

NEGATIVE, there is no difference in the carrier ends, the only difference is the bearings. Get an 8.5 install kit to install it in the older truck and an 8.6 install kit to install it in the newer truck.

Yea I knew they would need to be set up and that I would need to have the bearings pressed on at a machine shop, it was just the spline count that everyone keeps telling me different answers on. Thanks for the input guys, Ill let you know how it goes.

So its looking like they are both 30 spline, are there auto parts stores in town that sell quality bearings and shims or should I just buy a master install kit for each?
