is the trutrac still considered the best?

I've had a g80-it shattered, had an auborn clutch style-shattered it, had a truetrac- lr quit spinning on burn outs, the gear had worn itself into case on the left side. Took 20 minutes of chiseling the case to get the c-clip out. I now have a mini spool.

How is that unit for a daily commuter? I read it can be a little harsh in the corners. How often does the clutch pack need to be replaced?

Looking at picking up a used trutrac, what are some things to look for? Hoping that if there was some sort of manufacturing defect it would have failed in the first 10k or so, and buying a used one works out.

I have no regrets with the Eaton Posi I put in about 10 years ago. Clutches are still holding great. I did have to replace the spider gears with some hardened Yukon replacements after breaking a few of them at the drag strip. It's been great since then. Since the engagement is based on input torque, the more power you make, even at light throttle it will be coupled in turns. It was perfect around town when the truck was H/C LS1 but with my current setup, it will scuff the inside tire when making a right and accelerating. Engagement is very predictable though.

i beat the hell out of my tru-trac and couldnt hurt it. had it out multiple times for gear changes and everything looked great. I'm sure whoever stole the rear end out from under my truck is enjoying it now lol.
