Default trutrac Break In

So pretty soon i'm getting my g80 pulled out and having my trutrac installed for $200 labor and all. What do you guy's think is that a good deal? My real question was how many miles do i put on the trutrac before i engage the unit because i figured i would let the guy put the unit in with the stock diff cover then when it's broke in i can drain the diff then buy a moser cover.. So what do you guy's think?

People break in rear diffs? I've always just done a couple of hard circles each direction in a parking lot to be sure the clutches were lubricated correctly and then pushed down the skinny pedal.

In for answers, because I've never even really thought about breaking one in.

Huh? Within a half mile after the install I had done at least 3 donuts. That's a good way to break it in.

I was thinking the same thing. Put the little pedal on the floor. Works for me.

I would contact the manufacturer about this, they will know best. I'm not sure if they require a strict break in period like gears, or if they are good to go out of the box. If it were me, I would at the very least put many heat cycles on it and a hundred miles or more or easy driving, then change the oil and go.

That's what i was thinking.. I mean i paid $525 for the trutrac and everything else. I would hate to tear it up just by not taking the right steps. I figured someone would chime in that has a trutrac and they could give me there opinion.

Went easy on mine for a couple hundred miles but it was more for the gear break-in. The guys who put it in said it was indestructable and didn't even need a break-in. Change the oil after a couple hundred and you'll be fine.

i had one in my old blazer. did the 500 mile break in but that was more for gears than anything else. i never did change the oil in the diff as there is no additive needed since there are no clutches. i dont own the truck any more (ex wife drove it into a tree) but it was workin like a champ for at least 30k miles
