Default Truck won't move

Well I was in a mud put my truck in 4wd to get out heard a poping sound, got out of the mud hole went back to 2wd and now it drives like the brakes are hung. Reverse is really stiff I almost have to floor it to get it to move. I put it in neutral and it rolls as if it was in drive. I checked everything brakes, fluid, axles/ diffs. so its gotta be the 4L60 right? I am on my 5TH one so should I go through the trouble of the rebuild for about $250 or just go and do the 4L80 swap?

And also if you have any idea what is causing this problem please let me know!!!

popping sound... usually has to do with the transfer case...

this is dangerous.. but if you have the front and gear wheels off the ground.. like have it on jack stands (or a lift if you have access to one).. see if you can get the sound to come back... maybe see if you can see any visual problems first.

what color is the fluid?

fluid is brown in the tranny and red in the case I pulled the front drive shaft and the rear wheels go 20 MPH in neutral rev the engine and they go fatster. put it in drive and the tires rotate at 25 MPH rev engine and the go fatser put it in 1 gear and they bearly move put it in reverse and they dont move until about 1/2 throtle and then stop really fast. there is no popping noise going on at the currrent time just that once
