Default Truck wont even turn over!

Hey guys, last night I drove 300 miles from home(Brighton) to school in the soo.
The old girl did great the whole way up here and made it on one tank. so I got to school rolled up on the sidewalk and shut it off. after I got done unloading I went to start it up and it wouldnt even turn over. when I went to pull the gear lever it feels like its not connected to anything. and like I said it wont even turn over. any ideas? I need help because this is my only transportation within 300 miles and semester ends in 2 months. Truck is a 99 silverado ECSB z71.
Thanks,
Sam

Um, did someone **** with your truck? The gear lever doesn't just suddenly lose connection to the trans..

Cable broke?

If the cable broke you can jump the starter relay and then have a brave friend go under the truck and put the trans in drive for you lol

thanks for the prompt replies. Now that you mention it it might be the cable. because before the truck was hard to get into gear. but you can push the truck around. if the cable broke would it just default to neutral?

If the shifter is in park and you can push the truck around then the cable is broken or someone is playing a trick on you. More then likely it broke as you was putting it into park.
