Default truck rides rough, but rides great with added weight.

guys what could this mean? My truck is lowered 5/8 with flip kit and shackels in back. I have some monroe nissan hard body shocks in the rear to get me by for the time being. It also has caltracs and 6 degree pinion shims. Well at 60+mph it rides a lil rough and shacky, kinda like a dam massage chair lol.

Well, the other day i had 4 packs of shingles and 12 8' 1x4" boards in the back. I figured maybe around 300 pounds give or take. Well, it rode like a dream. How did the weight help like that? maybe pinion angle is to low? and the added weight squatted the rear and raised the pinion angle some? Whats your thoughts?

Thanks.

Id say pinion angle check it make sure every truck will be different. Check with the weight in it as well see if its different

Mine does the same but I think it has to do with the shocks being too stiff and the fact that the *** ends on our or at least my rcbs is too light. The reason is think so is pinion angle will cause the driveshaft to almost bind if its far off enough and cause vibration issues.

Well I ordered some 4 degree shims to try from summit. Noticed it is pushed downward pretty good. Might raise the back up an inch and see if that helps

Ok guys here is the update. I moved my drop from 8" to 7" rear drop. Also installed the new 4* degree shims which gave me a total of -5/-6 degree pinion angle. We checked it with a angle finder and had -8 before the swap with the 6 degree shims.

This thing is lowered 5/7 and drives and rides great! Rides just like a factory suspension truck. I am very happy with results. By the way what pinion angle do u guys usually shoot for? -6 is what I think I have heard just not sure.

Thanks.

More like -3 to -3.5... -6 is a lot of angle IMO. It's within the working limits of the U joint but it's not easy on them. I'd roll it up about 3deg and see what it does there.
