Default Tru-Cool 40K GVW - Nipples up or down? Air pockets?

I see most people mount it down. The packing box shows nipples up and someone on youtube says they should be up because if you have nipples down air maybe trapped in the upper part of the cooler thus no utilizing entire surface. He says only way that it can be pointed down if they have air bleeders built in.

So which is the right way? Up or down?

Truecool people say it should be nipples up. If you have a 5 degree difference (between lowest and highest point of the cooler) when installed with nipples down - it means you have air in the system and you are not utilizing it right.

Im just about to purchase the Trucool or the High peformance Derale with a Fan. Im still uncertain what I should go with.

Thanks

Mine are down. Testes in 2 hours of highway speed at over 100F ambient. Trans temps never went over 130F. No special bleeding.

Down here too. I haven't had any issues with it and all the ones I've seen here on PT have been down as well

Nips down for ease of install.
Before mount it, let it hang over bumper with nips up.
Fire up truck, cycle through gears and it will purge any air.
Then mount it.
Probably drains when the trans pump isnt running tho. So probably pointless.

The cooler I have in my Express is mounted nipples down, same design as the true cool. Plumbed in-line after the factory in-radiator cooler it runs about 150°F at its hottest and that is pulling a 6K travel trailer behind a 6,200 lb Express.
